DeKalb County Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling Presents the Premier Domestic Violence Awareness Fundraiser
(Decatur, GA – November 12, 2025) DeKalb County Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling felt a sense of nostalgia stepping onto the stage of the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center in Decatur this week. On November 10, SG Coleman-Stribling was a featured presenter at the NCNW DeKalb Section “State of DeKalb” General Body Meeting, held on the very stage where Dancing with the DeKalb Stars takes place, and where participants will shine again on April 18, 2026.
During her remarks, Coleman-Stribling told the audience that it’s never too early to begin supporting and promoting Dancing with the DeKalb Stars. She invited the NCNW’s partnership, noting that several members of the NCNW DeKalb Section have participated in the event in previous years. The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is an “organization of organizations,” comprised of more than 350 campus and community-based sections and 37 national women’s organizations. The NCNW enlightens, inspires, and connects over 2 million women and men, with a mission to lead, advocate for, and empower women of African descent, their families, and their communities.
Joining SG Coleman-Stribling on stage during the “State of DeKalb” General Body Meeting, were NCNW National Chair Dr. Lois Keith, DeKalb County Commissioners Dr. LaDena Bolton, and Nicole Massiah, and DeKalb County Women’s Commission founders and Junior League leaders Gabrielle Rogers and Victoria Anglin.
With that same spirit of empowerment, the Solicitor-General shared the reason for once again bringing Dancing with the DeKalb Stars, returning Saturday, April 18, 2026, to the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center. Part fundraiser, part celebration, Dancing with the DeKalb Stars brings together celebrities, local leaders, law enforcement, and community partners for an unforgettable evening of dance, purpose, empowerment, and fundraising. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $100,000 to support victims of domestic violence in DeKalb County.
Proceeds from the 2026 event will once again benefit two cornerstone organizations in the fight against domestic violence: the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence and International Women’s House.
A Night of Talent, Awareness, and Hope
Doors will open at 5 p.m. for the Domestic Violence Awareness Resource Expo, where guests can meet advocates, connect with service providers, and learn more about community resources. The dance competition begins at 6 p.m., featuring members of DeKalb County’s public safety, business, civic, legal, and elected leadership communities, and celebrities paired with professional dancers.
“The work done by the two organizations benefiting from this event has saved lives,” said Solicitor-General Coleman-Stribling. “It’s important to shed light on the journey from victim to survivor. My office is dedicated to ending domestic violence and bridging the gap between victim and survivor.”
Community Impact
Past events have featured vibrant performances with elaborate costumes, props, and choreography that highlight the strength and resilience of survivors. Performers from DeKalb School of the Arts and Morningside School of Dance have also graced the stage, adding youthful energy and artistic excellence to the evening.
“We’re so fortunate to have Donna Coleman-Stribling as part of our community,” said Jean Douglas, Executive Director of the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence. “There’s so much loyalty and support here. These efforts truly make a difference.”
In a show of mentorship and solidarity, Coleman-Stribling has also used the event to inspire the next generation, presenting community leaders with symbolic purple ties, representing the ongoing fight against domestic violence and the importance of positive male role models.
