Victim-Witness Advocate Program
Our Victim-Witness Advocate Program consists of a director of victim services and victim-witness advocates.
The official role of the victim-witness advocate in the DeKalb Solicitor-General’s Office is to be the voice of the victim. The advocacy role is neither a primary nor preliminary fact-finder. The purpose of victim advocacy is to promote the relationship between the system and a victim of crime and ease the victim through the process, ensuring that all resources, remedies and rights are made available. The advocates in our office have duties and responsibilities that include the review and assessment of all victim related cases. Advocates are the first contact a victim will have with our office and will be the first assessors for higher risk cases.
