Trial Line Attorneys Unit

Assistant Solicitors-General are responsible for the prosecution of all cases assigned to their division, except Special Victims Unit (SVU) and Quality of Life cases. They handle an array of cases, including thefts by shoplifting, DUI, battery, and criminal trespass.

Assistant Solicitors represent the Solicitor-General’s Office in court and at the arraignment, trial, motion, jail plea, bond forfeiture and bench trial calendars. They are responsible for accusing the cases by the accusation deadline, sending cases to the Diversion Unit, recommending cases for transfer to the SVU and District Attorney’s Office, as well as the dismissal of cases. Deputy Chief Joelle Nazaire oversees the day-to-day tasks of our Trial Line division.
